He starts by joining the volleyball club in high school. Despite his inexperience, he gains skills in the game. No one else plays Volley Ball in his school. He tries to convince others to join him and play for the team. He builds a small team but they suffer an utter defeat in their first match. This motivates Shoyo and his friends to get better in the game.
The fans found this sports based anime fun to watch. The anime was in the top charts since it started. Many professional athletes watched it and spoke in praise. The plot focuses on every player. They try to get faster and stronger, build stamina, to last against the strong opponent teams. Part of the popularity of the anime comes from the success of the manga in the Shonen category. This may not be the traditional shonen anime but every game is a battle. Each member of the team tries their best to win against powerful opponent teams.
