Overview: Based on the tragic sinking of the famous ship RMS Titanic in 1912, this movie is a favorite among fans. The movie was written and directed by James Cameron. In the movie, a research team is searching for a famous necklace in the wreckage of the RMS Titanic. The team recovers a sketch of a woman wearing that necklace. The woman in the drawing, Rose (Kate Winslet), is then found by the team, who is now old, and she narrates the story of her experiences aboard the Titanic. Rose belongs to a wealthy upper-class family, and is set to marry another man Cal, whom she does not like, but has to marry for her family to retain their upper-class status.
However, onboard the Titanic, she meets Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio), and the two become close to each other. The film follows their love story, as well as depicting the tragic event when the Titanic hits the iceberg and sinks. The film shows the struggle of Jack and Rose, as they strive to stay alive in the icy cold waters of the North Atlantic Ocean. However, the film is more than 3 hours and is recommended only for fans of the Romance genre.

Overview: Written and directed by Christopher Nolan, the film depicts Leonardo DiCaprio as a professional thief who steals information by penetrating the subconscious of individuals. Dominic Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) excels in extracting information from subject’s minds without them knowing. He is taught this secret by Dr. Stephen Miles. Cobb also has an associate Arthur (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), who is also a former student of Dr. Miles. Cobb’s skills and activities make him a wanted man with many of his previous subjects, which prevents Cobb from returning to his home.
Cobb’s latest target Saito (Ken Watanabe) reveals that he arranged this activity to test Cobb for a mission he wanted Cobb to undertake: plant an idea in a person’s subconscious, or “inception”. Saito proposes that he will erase Cobb’s criminal history if he will plant an idea to dissolve his father’s company in the mind of Robert Fischer, son of Maurice Fischer, who is Saito’s competitor. Cobb takes the offer and assembles a team to help him achieve this task. The film involves complex situations and depicts the concept of a dream within a dream, making it highly desirable for Sci-Fi movie fans.
3. Django Unchained

Overview: The film is written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, and is set in mid-19th century America. Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz), a former German dentist, is on the lookout for Django (Jamie Foxx), a slave in possession of the Speck brothers. Schultz is now a bounty-hunter and needs information about the Brittle brothers, whom Django knows. Therefore, he attempts to buy Django from the Speck brothers, but they refuse to sell him. Schultz then shoots the Speck brothers and frees all the other slaves. He offers Django his freedom, plus $75 if he tells him about the Brittle brothers. He and Django kill the Brittle brothers at a wealthy owner’s plantation. The owner tries to kill Schultz and Django, but Schultz ambushes them, and Django kills the owner.
Schultz then takes Django as his apprentice, and the two work together as bounty hunters. Schultz later finds out that Django has a wife Broomhilda, whom he was separated from when they were sold as slaves. Schultz decides to help Django find Broomhilda, and they find out that Broomhilda is a house slave for Calvin J. Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio), a brutal owner of the Candyland plantation. The film then follows the adventures of Schultz and Django, as they plan to rescue Broomhilda from Candyland. Schultz’s comic cunning in the beginning and the development of the story later on in the movie keeps the viewers engrossed throughout, making Django Unchained a must-watch.
4. The Departed

Overview: The film is directed by Martin Scorsese and written by William Monahan and is a remake of the 2002 Hong Kong film Internal Affairs. In the 1980s, a young Colin Sullivan (Matt Damon) is recruited by Irish mob boss Frank Costello in Boston. By 2006, he has placed Sullivan as a mole in Massachusetts State Police. A recruit of the Massachusetts State Police, William “Billy” Costigan Jr. (Leonardo Di Caprio), is given an assignment before he is graduated. Since Billy’s family had ties to crime, Billy was told to infiltrate Frank Costello’s crew in an attempt to bring Costello down. The police discover that Costello’s crew have stolen microprocessors and are going to sell them to a Chinese gang. However, the deal happens off-camera, and after the deal, the police realize that there is a mole among them, while Costello also finds out that there is a rat in his crew. Sullivan and Costigan, therefore each attempt to discover the other’s identity before they are found out. However, things are not as straightforward as they may seem.
5. Body of Lies

Overview: The film is directed and produced by Ridley Scott, and written by William Monahan. It is based on the novel of the same name by David Ignatius and examines contemporary tension between Western and Arab societies. Roger Ferris (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a CIA operative in Iraq, chasing after a terrorist Al-Saleem. Ferris works with his associate Bassam and tries to get information from Nizar, a member of the terrorist organization, who is willing to give information in exchange for asylum in North America. Based on Nizar’s information, Ferris and Bassam go in search of a safe house.
However, Ferris is exposed, and Bassam is killed while he and Ferris are trying to make their escape. Ferris is then assigned to Jordan by his handler Ed Hoffman (Russell Crowe) and told to meet up with Hani Salaam (Mark Strong), who is head of the Jordanian intelligence directorate. Hani uses a former small-time criminal Karami, as an infiltrator in Al-Saleem’s organization, and tells Ferris that he must never lie to him. However, on Hoffman’s instructions, Ferris’ associate Skip tries to kidnap Karami, straining relationships between Hani and Ferris, who is exiled from Jordan by Hani. The film then depicts the individual plans of Hani and Ferris, as they both try to catch Al-Saleem in their way.
