The Legend Of Zelda, Fans Ask For An Anime: Here Is The Answer Of The Castlevania Editor

In recent months, Netflix has announced the arrival on the platform of several animated series taken from major video game franchises, including DOTA, Assassin’s Creed, Resident Evil, and Dragon’s Dogma. The large investment of the US streaming giant has prompted fans to make some requests, and among these stands out that of an anime adaptation for The Legend of Zelda.

The requests prompted the guys from Zelda Dungeon to interview David Howe, editors of Castlevania 3 and 4 at Powerhouse Animation Studios, asking him what the possibilities were and especially if, in his opinion, a similar product could work.

” If I remember correctly there is already a precedent,” said Howe, ” at home, I have a few copies of the manga of Ocarina of Time, so if Nintendo approved a manga adaptation of an anime do not see why it can not work. Personally, I’m a huge fan of Zelda and I would love to see a TV series. There has been a lot of talk about movies but I think it takes more time to transpose something like Breath of the Wild, so a series would be perfect. You could also create story arcs including bosses and temples … in short, the potential is there “.

After analyzing the possible structure of the anime by making some comparisons with Demon Slayer, Howe talked about the type of TV series he would like to see: ” The TV series of dreams is aimed at an adult audience. Let’s not talk about something forbidden to minors. like Castlevania, but I think transposing the world and characters in a very serious way might be a perfect choice. ” Howe went on to say that he has heard several rumors about a live-action adaptation of Zelda, but that many employees – including himself – would like to see an anime.

Nintendo is already working on a Super Mario movie coming in 2022 and a Netflix series of Sonic, and apparently, it is not excluded that Zelda receives similar treatment in recent times. The company’s plans are mainly aimed at the big screen, but given the interest circulating among animation studios, it cannot be excluded that the big N also evaluates some alternative options.
