My Hero Academia Third Film Will Release After Season 5

My Hero Academia is planning to release a new feature film for the franchise, after the fifth season premieres next year. On MHA’s official website, Toho studio has announced that the main team for the anime is returning to prepare the film to release in the Summer of 2021, and it will premiere at the anime expo in July of next year. The Japanese theatrical release will happen afterward in August. Along with that, Funimation will subsequently release the movie in the U.S. and Canada like the previous movies. Prior to the film release, the fifth season for the action anime for My Hero Academia will release during the Spring of 2021.

This new film for My Hero Academia will feature a storyline taken from the manga to follow the season’s story prior. The same director and production team is handling the movie. A teaser image for the movie with the text ” He will meet the Three Musketeers” featuring Bakugo, Midoriya, and Todoroki. It could imply that a formidable villain will meet the three powerhouses of the 1-A class in a thrilling clash.

It has become a trend for the recent anime to develop a movie on the canon storylines to follow up on the movie stories. They integrate a short side arc into the 90-minute film (usually three episodes long) and add the three acts to create a cinematic plot. The success of Demon Slayer Movie is the best representation for such kind of box-office hit in recent times. While My Hero Academia doesn’t enjoy that type of popularity in Japan, generally having an original plot brings more audience to the movie. It will still be a well-performing movie.

The previous second movie for MHA was Heroes: Rising was ranked #4 in the US box office opening at release. So that tells us that the third movie will also perform better in the American market. Nevertheless, the Japanese audience is also looking forward to the movie. There is no official title for the movie yet or any teaser related to it, but the film is now under production. With the season 5 production completed and ready for release, the main team was moved to a new project.

My Hero Academia is an intense anime story where the world is full of people with superhuman abilities. Some of these people use their abilities to become villains with the ambition to create chaos and destruction. In response, a faction of superheroes is established, and young people are trained to become the aspiring heroes that maintain peace in the world. For us, the main protagonist is Izuku Midoriya, who is telling us the story of how he became the World’s No. 1 Hero. His struggle when he was quirkless to the powerful quirk gained as he entered high school. The story is far from over, and Midoriya keeps growing into a Hero destined for the ultimate title.
