It looks like the globally recognized franchise, Harry Potter, couldn’t sway the fearless and lively sister of Ron, Ginny Weasley!

32-year-old actor Bonnie Wright, who played the character of Ginny, finally revealed why she doesn’t approve of her character even though it is one of the most beloved characters in the franchise.

The Harry Potter series has an amazing cast of Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson. The actors gained special recognition through these films as the movies were critically acclaimed and commercially successful.

The actress Bonnie Wright, who played the role of Harry’s significant other, expressed her disapproval of the presentation of her character. She said in an Inside of You podcast,

“I definitely feel there was anxiety towards performing and doing the best thing as my character built, for instance.

Like, ‘Oh gosh, will I do justice to this character that people love? So that was always hard to do, especially when, inevitably, a lot of the scenes of every character were chopped down from the book to the film. That was a little disappointing because there were parts of the character that just didn’t get to come through because there weren’t scenes to do that. That made me feel a bit anxious or just frustrated.”

Who was Bonnie Wright’s character, Ginny Weasley?

Ginny Weasley is a smart and confident member of Hogwarts. She doesn’t shy away from speaking what’s in her mind. She is the youngest member of the Weasley family. Later on, she develops a serious crush on Harry Potter.

Bonnie Wright believes that her beautifully written character fell victim to the perception of directors. The majority of her scenes were cut from the movie.

The film didn’t allow her to show her true potential because of the limited screen time.

She further added,

“There was no room for much change in those scripts. There were a million executives going through them all. I think what I maybe took, which I don’t take so much to heart now, is I kind of felt that maybe my anxiety was about, ‘Oh, I’m going to be seen as badly portraying this character,’ rather than later realizing that I wasn’t really given the opportunity to do that.

So it wasn’t really my fault, exactly. And when fans do share that disappointment, they do it in a way that is like, ‘We know it wasn’t you. We just wanted more of you. And that’s the same for every character. If only they could be five-hour-long movies.”

Fans are also disappointed after reading the Harry Potter novels by JK Rowling because Ginny’s role was not explored enough and was minimized to just being Harry Potter’s love.

If you are someone who has just started the Harry Potter film series, then you will be shocked to know about the visible difference between the experience of a book and a movie.

The majority of important scenes are edited and removed to suit the movie’s time limitation. As a result, the storyline is forced to lose its true essence because of the repeated compromises on the writer’s depth and intricacies.

I hope you enjoyed reading about the dissatisfaction of Bonnie Wright for her character in the popular Harry Potter series.
