Currently in production, the much-anticipated Joker 2 will be called Joker: Folie a Deux and will be released early next year. Todd Phillips is directing, writing, and coauthoring this film, which will reunite Joaquin Phoenix with his legendary role as the Joker. In addition, a casting announcement has also been made regarding Lady Gaga. The sequel to the previous movie takes place in the same universe but stands on its own.

In addition to Arthur Fleck’s story Joker, Joker 2 will continue the story introduced in Joker: Folie a Deux. However, Harley Quinn will be portrayed by Lady Gaga in a significant role.

Todd Phillips posted a photo of Lady Gaga in her costume on Instagram on Valentine’s Day 2023. Phoenix’s Joker has been spotted wearing clown makeup while embodying Gaga’s persona. There is currently a film in development in New York City.

Joker 2 Trailer

Currently, our only clue comes from Lady Gaga’s Twitter account, which has a very brief teaser (black silhouette illustration of Gaga and Phoenix accompanied by music).

What does the title Joker Folie A Deux mean?

An English word sometimes used for this type of mental illness is ‘folie à Deux, which translates to ‘madness of two’ or a ‘shared psychosis’ between two people in close association. With the title, we can expect Arthur Fleck’s fractured psyche to once again be explored on screen. At the same time, it may also indicate that a second protagonist will appear as a natural second person with whom Joker shares his plans.

Our theory suggests Harley Quinn will share Arthur’s delusions or mental illness in the sequel if we are correct. While we are concerned about how Joker dabbled in mental illness stereotypes poorly, we hope the sequel will improve on this.

 Plot Of The Movie Joker

In addition to the title (which we mentioned above), more plot details still need to be shared. It is clear, however, that the movie will be musical-themed in at least some way. Following the riots that tore through Gotham City, Arthur was presumably arrested at Arkham State Hospital, where he will spend the rest of the movie. It has a final shot in which he is dancing down a hospital corridor (possibly killing the doctor examining him), leaving red footprints in his wake.

It is also essential to know who Arthur’s antagonist will be in the Joker sequel. Many aspects of Joker were mirrored in the first movie. The film’s central conflict was his transformation from a vaguely regular member of civil society to a full-fledged serial killer. But how do we proceed from here? What is the next step in Joker’s development?

Is Joker 2 Included In The DC Extended Universe?

DC Studios’ company’s co is James Gunn, best known for his work on Suicide Squad and Guardians of the Galaxy, and Peter Safran. Gunn and Safran will oversee DC superhero projects for the next ten years, ensuring the continuity of the DC Universe. Although the uncertainty surrounding the future of several DC projects, including the Batman and Superman franchises, the sequel has not been changed. Because of its independence, it is unlikely to be forced into a shared universe.

The first Joker film was standalone, earning nearly $1 billion in global box office revenue, demonstrating that a shared universe is only sometimes necessary.
