Practical Magic is a romantic comedy film that came in 1988 and is based on the novel by Alice Hoffman. Many people liked the movie, and it tells us the story of two sisters, Sally and Gillian Owens, played by Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, respectively.
The sisters come from a long line of influential witches and face many problems in their love life until they decide to take things into their own hands. The girls dream of love despite knowing that any man they will love will die due to a curse put on them by their ancestors.
After some unpleasant things, Sally and Gillian used their Magic to break the curse. The film received good ratings and also gained a mass following. Now, the makers plan to develop a prequel for Practical Magic 2.
“Rules of Magic” was written in 2018 by Alice Hoffman and took place before the story of Sally and Gillian. It is now being made as a TV show by HBO Max; Alice Hoffman confirmed the same news on her Twitter account. So the fans have now got another chance to learn more about the history of the Owen family.
Release Date of Practical Magic 2
We all know how eagerly the fans were waiting for the sequel of Practical Magic. Finally, we have now received its prequel, and the wait is finally over. The release date has been announced, and the fans are impatient to know about the same. The movie is all set to be released in 2023, with its original cast members, Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, returning for their respective roles.
It is known what the plot will be (since it is based on the book “Rules of Magic” released in 2018). The fans are also busy speculating about the magical adventures the Owen sisters will be on. As the film was loved by many, the excitement for Practical Magic 2 is also high.
Also, in August 2019, Variety told us about “Rules of Magic” being ordered by HBO Max, and it is being said that this will be an hour-long drama. The show’s production had to be started in Spring of 2020, but that couldn’t be done due to the pandemic.
Details about “Rules of Magic”
According to Variety, “Rules of Magic” by Alice Hoffman is about the young Owen siblings, Vincent, Jet, and Franny. They’re kept away from their people owing to the strange and magical traits that they inherit.
These three siblings are unaware they come from a line of witches and have yet to learn about living with their magical powers. The series will be set in 1960s New York. Hence, exciting subplots are also expected.
Expected Cast of Practical Magic 2
Now, Practical Magic 2 has yet to announce its official cast list. However, the younger versions of Dianner West and Stockard Channing will now play the aunts seen in Practical Magic. In addition, a new character, Vincent, the brother of Het and Francis, will be added to the show.
Let’s see how the casting directors will go out of the way and enroll people who look like siblings. We saw how Euphoria did an excellent job casting the younger versions of Rue, Maddy, and others. So it is safe to expect the same from Practical Magic 2.
There’s also a probability that new and upcoming actors will be cast for the prequel, and for the confirmation, we’ll have to wait. We, however, hope to see Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, the two leading actresses of Hollywood, back for a cameo role.
